Describing it as a "difficult fire," authorities noted its proximity to scattered residential properties.
The fire originated in grassy areas near the sideroad of Vari-Koropi Avenue, initially igniting in a boat parking yard near Koropi town before rapidly spreading. A team of 54 firefighters, including two ground teams and supported by 19 vehicles, is actively engaged in firefighting operations. They are bolstered by the deployment of four firefighting aircraft, six helicopters, as well as volunteers and local authority water tankers.
Emergency warnings via the 112 hotline have been issued to residents of Kitsi and Lambrika near Koropi, advising evacuation. Kitsi residents are directed to relocate towards Vari, while Lambrika residents are urged to move towards Agia Marina Avenue as precautionary measures continue amid the ongoing efforts to control the blaze.
