Cyprus rejects Hezbollah claim on Israel and airports

Cyprus has rejected allegations by Hezbollah that its airports might be used by Israeli warplanes in the event of a war between Israel and Hamas.

The government in Nicosia denied any military involvement and stated that Cyprus is not part of any military conflicts. The island has two British military bases, but these are on sovereign UK territory and not controlled by Cyprus.

Cyprus has built stronger ties with Israel in recent years, particularly in energy and tourism. The president of Cyprus has denied any Cypriot involvement in the Israel-Hamas war, except as a staging post for humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah warns of widespread attacks in Israel and accuses Cyprus of supporting Israel. Nasrallah emphasizes Hezbollah's preparedness for a full-scale war and its support for Hamas
