Gazi Returns: A Nostalgic Greek Street Food Revival at The Hellenic House Project"

Celebrity chef George Calombaris is set to revive his beloved Greek street food hotspot, Gazi, in an exciting return to Melbourne's culinary scene. The iconic restaurant, renowned for its feta chips and distinctive terracotta pot ceiling, will make a nostalgic comeback at The Hellenic House Project in Highett next month.

Calombaris, who recently reunited with his fellow MasterChef hosts for a charity event, expressed his enthusiasm for bringing back Gazi, describing it as a pivotal part of Melbourne’s dining culture.

“We’re thrilled to recreate the nostalgia of Gazi’s heyday,” Calombaris remarked. “Think of the original feta chips, prawn kataifi with tarama, soft shell crab souva, pork with tyrokafteri, and, of course, the Bombe Metaxa.”

The month-long event will transform The Hellenic House Project's downstairs kitchen and upstairs 'good room', offering weekly meal specials that cater to a variety of tastes without breaking the bank.

Guests can anticipate enticing offers such as $20 "all you can eat" souvas and lunch deals, $5 Espressotinis, daily $8 happy hours, and $10 dessert and coffee combinations.

“The team is incredibly excited. Gazi was not only delicious but also a lot of fun, and we can't wait to bring that spirit back this July,” Calombaris added.

Previously located on Flinders St next to Calombaris’s esteemed The Press Club, Gazi bid farewell in 2019 after a successful five-year run. Now, its return promises to reignite fond memories while introducing new flavours to old fans and newcomers alike.

Visit The Hellenic House Project at 515 Highett Rd, Highett, to indulge in this limited-time culinary experience starting next month.
