Sydney Accountant Filomena Kyriacou Faces ATO Lawsuit Over $3 Million in Unpaid Taxes

Ms Kyriacou is facing multiple law suits.

Filomena Kyriacou, a prominent Sydney accountant associated with several well-known figures, including Adam Cranston, who is known as Australia's largest tax fraudster, is currently involved in a legal dispute with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).

The ATO has filed a lawsuit in the NSW Supreme Court, claiming that Kyriacou owes over $3 million in unpaid taxes and penalties dating back to 2016.

Despite the legal action initiated last year, attempts to serve Kyriacou with court documents have proven unsuccessful. Recent court proceedings on June 3 required the ATO to explore alternative means to notify her formally.

During this period, reports indicate sightings of Kyriacou enjoying Sydney's nightlife and holidaying, including attending the Elvis: Musical Revolution show at the State Theatre and cruising on a luxury ship from Sydney to Tasmania. She has also been seen driving a luxury BMW around Sydney.

According to court documents, Kyriacou faces charges of failing to pay $945,276 in income tax for the financial year ending June 30, 2017, and $718,920 for the subsequent year, with an additional $1.3 million in penalties.

Kyriacou, who has not appeared at any court dates related to the case, is concurrently defending against multiple lawsuits, including one from the Commonwealth Bank over a mortgage and others from finance firms Reliance Financial Services and Accolade Advisory for alleged unpaid fees and loans.

Her legal troubles extend to an internal dispute with her former firm, Wentworth Williams, where she is accused of misappropriating over $1 million. Additionally, her connections to organized crime figures have surfaced in related court proceedings, although she has not faced criminal charges in these matters.

Previously banned by the Tax Practitioners Board for unpaid taxes, Kyriacou's son, George Kyriacou, has also garnered media attention due to his career transitions and personal relationships, including a brief marriage to reality TV star Coco Stedman.

The unfolding legal saga underscores Kyriacou's complex legal battles and the ongoing pursuit by authorities amidst her elusive public appearances.
