Fatal Fire at Agrinio Construction Site

A devastating fire at a construction site in Lepenos, near Agrinio in the Aitoloakarnania region of Greece, has claimed the life of a man.

Initial reports from ERT suggest that the fire was triggered by an explosion in a machine used for asphalt paving. The blaze erupted shortly before 08:00, sending dense smoke billowing into the sky, visible from a considerable distance, according to agrinionews.gr.

Emergency services responded swiftly, with a large contingent of the fire brigade arriving on the scene to combat the flames. Police also attended the site, enforcing a ban on vehicle passage to and from the area to ensure public safety.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the explosion and subsequent fire.
