President Sakellaropoulou Meets Australian Firefighting Crews in Alexandroupolis

President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou met with the crews of the Australian firefighting Air Tractor aircraft at Demokritos Airport in Alexandroupolis on Thursday. The Air Tractors have been hired by the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection and are based at Alexandroupolis Airport.

The Greek president, who is on a three-day visit to the city, also attended a ceremony to present a kayak made from recycled material to the Alexandroupolis Nautical Club. The kayak was presented by Lefteris Arapakis, director of the organization “Enalia,” at the initiative of Sakellaropoulou. The ceremony took place at the Club’s facilities at the port of Alexandroupolis.

Afterwards, Sakellaropoulou took a walk along the coastal road of Alexandroupolis.

On Friday, at 12:30 p.m., the president will inaugurate the Eugenides Foundation’s two-day conference on “Climate Resilience and Local Society.”

On Sunday, she is scheduled to visit Orestiada at 10:15 am to attend the Oresteia 2024 events, marking the 101st anniversary of the founding of New Orestiada. Later, at 12:15 pm, she will inaugurate the “Evgenios Eugenidis” Interactive Science and Technology Exhibition in Kastanies (Evros).
