Kasselakis to Tsipras: “Lead or Get Out of the Way

Stefanos Kasselakis launched a new attack against Alexis Tsipras via social media at 00:33 on Saturday night. The post, however, was no longer visible shortly after, as it appears that he took it down.

In the post, Mr. Kasselakis calls on Mr. Tsipras to “come and take over” otherwise to stop undermining him. With the background of the suspension of the daily edition of Avgi newspaper, he also refers to the party’s finances.

About an hour later, however, the text reappeared on Facebook with several corrections, a fact that caused various comments and observations….

The same post appeared almost an hour later on Facebook without the phrase “stop undermining me.”

Kasselakis’ new post:

I share the wounds of SYRIZA’s world.

I have the exact same ones.

From the day I took over until today, I was left to fight without receiving daily internal party arrows for only two months (and even these with exceptions).

Together with the young people on our European election ballot. Along with the executives and MPs who gave their souls. And SYRIZA rose from 9% to 15%. And SYRIZA remained in the position that until recently seemed unattainable: Official Opposition.

Two splits, an attempt to delegitimize the Congress, now the same again with signatures to convene bodies, the meetings of which had already been announced.

Infighting, noise, introversion, which are repulsive both to our voters and to society.

Party officials with years of tenure know very well what finances I inherited.

How could the daily edition of Avgi close in 2022 with double the funding, but now remain open with half?

Who is exploiting the agony of working people by hiding the dramatic real picture?

I contributed by giving the highest amount allowed by law (€20,000). Another 7,000 euros were collected from contributions from friends and executives.

And yet, instead of going into the hands of Avgi employees, they went to the State today so that we wouldn’t lose the debt settlement we have for Avgi and Kokkino radio. This alone shows the criticality of the situation.

I did not come to my homeland to be consumed by daily internal party strife.

SYRIZA is the official opposition of the country and needs a leader who will be able to exercise his duties undisturbed and help the country get out of the neoliberal quagmire and right-wing decline.

Alexis, you know the respect I had for you from the first moment we met.

SYRIZA was not made to be liquidated into a centrist entity with top-down agreements outside of society.

SYRIZA deserves the opportunity to claim to govern and finally live up to the expectations of progressive citizens.

And that’s why I’m saying it clearly and with a sense of historical responsibility:

Come and take over and I will be a disciplined soldier in your effort, without undermining you for a moment.

But if you don’t want that, support me to make the effort for our party, without games.

-With a cleanup that is now confirmed, because the ship is financially hitting the rocks.

-With a statute congress.

-With the opening of SYRIZA to society without seniority and two-speed members.

-With a renewal of executives corresponding to that of the European election ballot.

-With strength, power and trust in the party base.

-With a SYRIZA that will not be dragged behind others, but will lead the effort for a large Center-Left starting from the social field.

I’m not glued to the chair – I didn’t have time to sit down anyway. I was running from one end of Greece to the other, fighting.

I would rather be a soldier in the fight for a better Greece than a general in a party civil war.

Alexis, shall we?
