Thessaloniki, Greece - Tragedy struck a popular diving spot on Sunday as a 33-year-old British tourist drowned at the Epanomi Shipwreck. The man, whose name has not yet been released, was diving when the weather suddenly deteriorated.

According to a coastguard official, "He was swimming when the weather turned and it began to rain." The rough seas created difficult conditions for the diver. Although a rescue boat and ambulance were dispatched immediately, the man was pulled from the water unconscious by another swimmer. He was later pronounced dead.

The Port Authority of Michaniona is currently investigating the incident and a postmortem examination will be conducted.

This tragic event marks the ninth tourist death in Greece since the beginning of June. Last Friday, the body of a 44-year-old British sailor was discovered in the waters off Spetses, a popular island destination for sailing enthusiasts. The cause of death is still under investigation.

These recent incidents serve as a somber reminder of the potential dangers of water activities and the importance of exercising caution, especially during unpredictable weather conditions.
