Greece has maintained its position as a top choice for European travellers, according to the latest European Travel Commission (ETC) report.
The country ranks fourth among preferred destinations for intra-European travel between June and November 2024.
Cultural and heritage attractions, as well as the allure of Greece’s beaches, continue to be primary drawcards for visitors. The country’s rich history and stunning coastline have contributed to its enduring popularity.
However, the report also indicates a slight decline in preference for Southern/Mediterranean Europe, including Greece, attributed to rising temperatures and frequent heatwaves. Experts urge the region to invest in climate-resilient infrastructure and create cooling spaces to mitigate these challenges.
Despite this trend, Greece has shown resilience in attracting new visitors, ranking seventh in Europe for visitor loyalty and first for attracting new tourists.
