Greek Prime Minister Reaffirms Commitment to €950 Minimum Wage Target

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the Labour and Social Security Ministry on Thursday, where discussions centered on key labour and insurance issues, including the increase of the minimum wage and the reduction of insurance contributions.

Special attention was given to the tourism sector.

Mitsotakis emphasised the government's dedication to social dialogue, aiming to find the best solutions for both businesses and workers. He highlighted the significant progress made by the Labour Ministry over the past five years, reflected in reduced unemployment, the creation of hundreds of thousands of new jobs, and improved working conditions, with a primary focus on protecting workers' rights.

The Prime Minister also underscored the importance of the Digital Work Card reform, stating, "It is the government's commitment that the Digital Labour Card be implemented in all sectors of the economy. The benefits in terms of recording the actual overtime work for the benefit of the employees are already noticeable."

Regarding the minimum wage, Mitsotakis reiterated the government's commitment to raising it to €950 by the end of the current four-year term. He also stressed the need to enhance labour market participation, particularly among women, young people, people with disabilities, and retirees.
