In June, almost 80,000 Greeks took advantage of the "Social Tourism" program, utilising the last 79,977 vouchers available for the 2023-2024 period.

Evia, Halkidiki, and Pieria were the top vacation destinations for voucher holders, as reported by the Public Employment Service (DYPA).
The vouchers, part of DYPA’s social tourism initiative, were designed to offer subsidised holidays for unemployed and lower-income Greeks and their families. This program is one of several launched by the Greek government to provide discounted vacations and boost domestic tourism.
Increased Budget for 2024-2025 Program
The upcoming 2024-2025 social tourism program, starting July 1, 2024, and running until June 30, 2025, will offer 300,000 vouchers. Funded with 50 million euros, this year's budget has increased by 43 percent from the previous year.
Eligible participants can enjoy up to six nights in hotels across Greece. In specific regions, such as Lesvos, Leros, Chios, Kos, and Samos, stays can extend up to ten nights, while in Evia, Larissa, and the Evros region, they can be extended to 12 nights. The vouchers cover free overnight stays and subsidize ship tickets up to 75 percent, with 100 percent coverage for individuals with special needs.
Applicants for the 2024-2025 vouchers should check their status through DYPA, confirmed by their Tax ID (AFM) and Social Security Number (AMKA).
