Firefighters continue to battle a wildfire raging between the villages of Mandamados and Kapi on the island of Lesvos, with the situation showing some improvement but remaining uncontained.

Despite the arrival of reinforcements, the fire remains strong. According to local news site tonisi.gr, a major effort is underway both on the ground and in the air to contain the blaze. Thirty firefighters, a pedestrian unit from the 12th EMAK (Special Disaster Response Unit), ten fire engines, and eight aircraft are currently engaged in firefighting operations. The Municipality of West Lesvos has also deployed water tankers and earthmoving equipment to assist in the effort.

Aeolostv reports that the situation has improved compared to earlier in the day, according to Babis Tzelaidis, President of the Mandamados community. "We can't say the fire is even partially controlled yet," he stated, "but the picture is improved compared to an hour ago. There is a lot of mobilization, with many aerial vehicles operating. A significant effort is being made. We hope that later we can talk about a more positive development."
