PSARA Thwarts Drone Attack on Merchant Ship

The frigate “PSARA” provided protection against an attack by Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (drones) to a merchant ship in the Gulf of Aden early this morning.

Specifically, according to military sources, in the early hours of Sunday, July 7, 2024, in the Gulf of Aden, the frigate PSARA, as part of the EUNAVFOR operation ATALANTA, while providing protection to a merchant ship, engaged four Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) using both its anti-drone system and its main gun, in accordance with the applicable Rules of Engagement. Two of the UAVs were shot down and the others were driven off.

The same sources point out that the frigate is continuing its mission normally.
