Vangelis Liolios, president of the Greek Basketball Federation, expressed their readiness to host significant competitions again, noting that Greece has not hosted a major national-level event since 1998. The country previously hosted the 1987 EuroBasket at the Peace and Friendship Stadium, the 1995 EuroBasket, and the 1998 World Cup at OAKA.
Liolios confirmed Greece's bid submission to FIBA, indicating a preference for hosting either group stages in Piraeus/OAKA or potentially the entire final phase of the tournament. He emphasized Greece's preparedness to compete for hosting rights, highlighting their ambition to showcase their capabilities on the international basketball stage once again.
