94-Year-Old Yiayia Pulls a Prank on Granddaughters for Ignoring Her Call

100k followers!! We started this account a little over a year and a half ago for fun so we never thought we’d hit a milestone like THIS!! Thank you all for following our Yiayia, who has slowly become everyone’s Yiayia🤍

Don’t mess with Yiayia Sofia! This spunky 94-year-old from Connecticut showed her granddaughters, Sophie (24) and Vickie (22), the importance of answering their phones with a playful prank.

When Sofia called the sisters to ask for help with her garden, radio silence ensued. Not one to be ignored, Sofia hatched a plan. She decided to lock the girls out of the house!

The moment of realization (and maybe a little panic) was captured on video as the sisters pleaded for entry. Sofia, retired but full of life, stood firm (well, probably sat comfortably in an armchair) until her message was clear.

“It’s good that I let them walk around like that,” Sofia chuckled, “they deserved it!” Clearly, Yiayia knows how to get her point across (and get a laugh in the process).

The Lesson Learned (with Love)

While the lockout was a temporary inconvenience, it served a purpose. As Sofia put it, “They need to learn to take my calls and not ignore them!”

Despite the playful prank, the bond between Sofia and her granddaughters remains strong. Sophie and Vickie live with their Yiayia (which means grandmother in Greek) along with their parents and siblings.

“Our Yiayia is very close to all of us,” Vickie explained, “but growing up with her has made our bond even stronger.” This close relationship extends beyond phone calls – Vickie admits to spending more time with Sofia than with people her own age.

Yiayia: The Energizer Bunny (and Social Media Star!)

Sofia may be retired, but her energy is legendary. “She honestly has more energy than we do,” Vickie laughs, “I get tired just looking at her!”

This zest for life extends even to social media. Sofia, now a video star along with her granddaughters, initially had reservations. “I was a little hesitant,” she admitted, “but now I love it!”

From the reactions they receive online to the occasional street recognition, Sofia embraces the unexpected fame. “I also really like it when someone recognizes me on the street!”

So, the next time your phone rings, especially if it’s Yiayia calling, you might want to answer. You never know what playful surprises might await!

Sofia, who moved from Ptolmaida, Greece, to Connecticut in the early 1980s, worked in many different factories until she retired in her late sixties.

Now, she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and making videos for social media.

Sofia said: ‘I was a bit apprehensive when my granddaughters suggested we make videos online because I didn’t know what to expect.

‘Now I love it. I love the comments and attention we get from people.

‘I also really love it whenever someone recognizes me on the street!’
