Organised by the University of Athens, the commemoration reflects on the significant historical event that occurred in 1974.
Earlier in the day, President Christodoulides honoured the memory of those who perished in the conflict by laying a wreath at the Monument of the Fallen in Cyprus, located at "Alsos Stratou" (Army Park) in Goudi. The solemn ceremony, which featured the playing of the National Anthem, was attended by General Dimitrios Houpis, Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff.
In the afternoon, President Christodoulides inaugurated a photo and multimedia exhibition on Famagusta by journalist Sotiris Danezis. The exhibition, held at the "Melina Mercouri" Cultural Center in Thissio, aims to shed light on the impact of the invasion and the ongoing issues faced by the region.
