British Tourist Killed in Crete Car Accident

A 47-year-old British tourist tragically passed away in a car accident while on holiday in Crete. The incident occurred Friday evening in the coastal town of Georgioupoli, east of Chania.

The woman was walking with her family, which included her husband, in-laws, and brother and sister-in-law, when a young driver lost control of his vehicle, striking her and her 54-year-old sister-in-law.

Emergency services responded swiftly, transporting both women to Rethymno Hospital. Sadly, the 47-year-old succumbed to her injuries. Her sister-in-law sustained abrasions to her arms and legs.

Local police are investigating the accident, which occurred around 7:30 p.m.
