Peter Diamandis was among the politicians, businessmen, and artists who attended the "wedding of the year" in Mumbai.

The wedding ceremony that united Anant Ambani, the son of the richest man in Asia, with the rich heiress Radhika Merchant is considered one of the year's most important social events.

Among the thousands of guests were Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former UK Prime Ministers Tony Blair and Boris Johnson, celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Nick Jonas and powerful business people such as Samsung Electronics Chairman Jay Lee.

There was also a Greek presence at the event.

Among the glamorous guests was the famous Greek-American businessman and author Peter Diamandis.

Sitting at one of the front tables of the reception area, he did not hide his enthusiasm for the impressive ceremony and the glamorous guests.

After all, he followed protocol and dressed in Indian-influenced clothing, as requested to all the guests.

Who is Peter Diamandis?

Peter Diamandis did not find himself in the "wedding of the year" by chance. He is one of the most influential entrepreneurs and authors in the United States.

The Greek-American is also an engineer, a pioneer in space exploration, a best-selling author on success and prosperity, and the founder of the XPRIZE Foundation, which runs competitions that highlight innovation.

His contact list includes Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Bill Clinton.

He does not hide his love for Greece but also the problematic path his family followed to reach the elite of American society.

"My father was a role model for me, he lived in the Greek island of Lesvos, grew up with nothing, feeding the goats and picking olives. He was the first person from his island to go to Medical School and then to the States, where he became a successful New York physician. For me it is equivalent of me going to Mars and beyond, so I think about that. There are entrepreneurs that have the same thirst that I have, and when I see that, I love it…I feel like I am a 25 year old kid following his dreams, and that’s the beautiful thing about life, that there is no dream too big," he said previously.

Peter Diamandis, a founding member of the International Space University, has started over 25 companies in longevity, space, venture capital, and education.

He is the founder, chairman of the X Prize Foundation, and co-founder of Singularity University.

Fortune magazine named him "one of the World's 50 Greatest Leaders".

He is the founder and executive chairman of the XPRIZE Foundation, which has launched competitions with over $400 million in prizes and directed over $4 billion to R&D projects.

It also recently launched the $100 million Gigaton Carbon XPRIZE, funded by Elon Musk, to fight climate change.

Peter Diamandis' venture fund, BOLD Capital Partners, has $600 million in new technologies and health biotechnology.
