Top seed Stefanos Tsitsipas made a successful debut at the EFG Swiss Open Gstaad by defeating Hamad Medjedovic 7-6(6), 6-3 on Wednesday.
In a match showcasing former Next Gen ATP Finals champions, Tsitsipas battled through a challenging first set, saving four set points before securing the tie-breaker and eventually the match with a single break in the second set.
Reflecting on the match, Tsitsipas acknowledged Medjedovic's strong performance, particularly noting his opponent's efforts in putting him under pressure from the outset. Despite the initial difficulty, Tsitsipas remained resilient, saving all five break points against him and highlighting his serve and forehand as pivotal to his victory.
Having secured his first win over Medjedovic in their initial ATP Head2Head encounter, Tsitsipas now looks forward to facing seventh seed Fabio Fognini in the next round.
