After two years of renovations, the Mykonos residence of Turkish-Kurdish chef Nusret Gökçe, better known as Salt Bae, is now ready to welcome him.
The architectural team of AREA Arch undertook the design in collaboration with the architects Apostolos Stergiopoulos and Stefanos Pappas, who envisioned the creation of a modern residence but also with traditional elements of Mykonian architecture.
Real estate agents estimate the renovation cost as much as one million euros.
As indicated by the owner, the residence has a separate floor for the master bedroom with an ensuite, a large bathroom, a living room, and a large fireplace. Nusret's desire for three fireplaces throughout the residence was a particular challenge for its design.
As mentioned above, one is on the personal suite floor, and the other two are in the common indoor and outdoor areas.
The property has a common living area with a large living room and dining room and a domestic kitchen directly connected to the dining room.
The three guesthouses of the same dynamic can accommodate up to six people, and they were created for the important guests and friends of the famous chef.
All guesthouses have independent entrances with built-in bathrooms and all the necessary amenities.
The surrounding area of the residence has large terraces, lush planting, atmospheric lighting during the evening hours and a fully equipped and modern gym area.
There are technologically equipped exercise machines, from treadmills and ellipticals to benches for weights and belts, that are used both for warm-ups and basic exercises.
It is known that Nusret goes to the restaurant every morning to inspect the preparations. After making sure that everything is running smoothly, he goes to the gym.
Pergolas are covered with bougainvillaea and traditional reeds. Traditional carmine red, like those found in Mykonos Town or church domes, were used both in the interior and exterior.
Off-white marble, a modern variant of mosaic, was used on the interior and exterior floors to preserve and highlight the traditional character.
Finally, marble, a traditional but luxurious material at the same time, is used on the washbasins, footboards and bedside tables.
Overall, all the above elements make up the modern Cycladic atmosphere, with hints of traditional features, just as Nusret envisioned for his residence.
The most obvious reason the Turkish businessman chose this particular property over something more modern is that the residence is only a three-minute walk from his restaurant.
The purchase and renovation of the residence mean that Nusret will also visit Mykonos in the winter.
