Greek basketball fans received disappointing news today as Kostas Antetokounmpo, centre for Panathinaikos, will not be competing in the upcoming Paris Olympics.

Antetokounmpo sustained an injury during the Pre-Olympic Tournament and despite undergoing examinations by both the National Team and Panathinaikos doctors, it was determined he wouldn’t be ready in time.

This leaves Nikos Chougkaz and Michalis Lountzis, the two remaining players on the roster who did not participate in the Pre-Olympic tournament, as potential replacements.

The full Greek National Team roster for the Olympics is as follows:

Point Guard (PG): Thomas Walkup, Nick Calathes, Dimitris Moraitis, Michalis Lountzis

Shooting Guard (SG): Giannoulis Larentzakis, Vassilis Toliopoulos
Small Forward (SF): Kostas Papanikolaou, Vassilis Charalampopoulos, Panagiotis Kalaitzakis
Power Forward (PF): Giannis Antetokounmpo, Dinos Mitoglou, Nikos Chougkaz
Centre (C): Giorgos Papagiannis
