According to airinfo.org, Naxos ranks third among the world’s best windsurfing destinations, joining an elite group that includes Hawaii, Spain’s Tarifa, Costa Rica, and the Canary Islands.
The French travel website’s survey highlighted Naxos for its prime geographical location, favourable sea currents, stunning natural beauty, and high-quality service. Known as the "pearl of the Cyclades," Naxos is celebrated for its turquoise waters and Aegean winds, which attract windsurfing enthusiasts from around the globe.
Deputy Mayor of Tourism Vangelis Katsaras remarked, “Naxos is increasingly popular among water sports, diving, hiking, and cycling enthusiasts. The development of thematic tourism not only extends the travel season but also appeals to environmentally conscious visitors, marking the future of our island.”
