Several SYRIZA officials stormed out of a meeting of the party conference organizing committee on Tuesday following a heated disagreement with party leader Stefanos Kasselakis.

According to Skai TV, the officials left the meeting after voicing concerns over Kasselakis’ proposed date for the conference, which coincides with PASOK’s leadership elections.

In response to their objections, Kasselakis stated that those who disagreed were free to leave. Eight officials exited the meeting.

Olga Gerovasili, Alekos Flambouraris, Yiannis Ragousis, Thanasis Theocharopoulos, and Konstantinos Zachariadis were among those who departed.

SYRIZA has been grappling with internal tensions since the June European elections, with numerous party members openly criticizing Kasselakis’ leadership.
