Authentic delicious "Greek Breakfast" at Skiathos Palace and Alkyon hotels

The Sporades Group, owned by the Derveni family, is well aware of the special importance of local gastronomy in creating unforgettable memories for its guests, and one of the best culinary memories is the "Greek Breakfast."

The Skiathos Palace Hotel was among the first 100 in all of Greece and the first in Skiathos to be awarded for its inclusion in the "Greek Breakfast" program, achieving this feat in 2023.

The luxurious Skiathos Palace's long course's comfort, cosmopolitanism, and charm, combined with the unique view of the beautiful Koukounaries beach, are the trademarks of the most historic hotel on the island.

In a more casual style, the Alkyon Hotel on Neo Limani offers stunning azure views from the second-floor terrace, where breakfast is served.

The Sporades Group aims to introduce visitors to Greece's culinary heritage. It uses as many authentic local products as possible to create a wide range of dishes, supporting local producers and generally honouring Greek quality products from all over the country.

The Derveni family has a long tradition of collaborations with local producers spanning decades, which shows its appreciation for authentic products and the people who produce them.

The Tsagaris family and their model livestock farm, "Greek Family Farm," in Maganitsa Platanou, supply Almyros Volos with wonderful feta cheese (PDO) and other dairy products.

The Antoniou family's olive mill in Glossa Skopelos, currently in the hands of the third generation, supplies extra virgin olive oil with a distinctive fruity taste.

Collaborations with local producers are not the only thing that gives the "Greek Breakfast" of the Sporades Group hotels a unique character.

They have also created their own farm on privately owned land in Agia Eleni Skiathos, where they grow organic horticultural crops and vegetables to supply the restaurants of the hotels.

For example, the organic tomato stir-fry for the "Greek Breakfast" comes from this farm.

Yoghurt from Anchialos is paired with pure thyme honey from Alonissos, and jams and wonderful spoon sweets come from the company Makedoniki, based in Skydra, Edessa.

The brigade of hotel chefs has taken the topic of sweets and bread very seriously. Regarding confectionery, they make daily handmade apple pie with apples from Zagora, bougatsa with milk from Anchialos, ravani, baklava, orange pie, chocolate pie, kadaifi, and all the bread.

Perhaps the numbers, which may be trivial, show the special importance that the Sporades Group gives to the "Greek Breakfast" it offers in its hotels: it includes 120 different products, of which 85 are served daily while 70% come from Greek companies.

The flavours of the "Greek Breakfast" and the irresistible charm of the Skiathos Palace and Alkyon hotels add their own special weight to the island's tourism.
