For the first time in his career, European champion Apostolos Christou will compete in the 100 m backstroke final of the Olympic Games in Paris on Monday (29/7, 22:19). The Greek swimmer participated in the second semi-final series and finished second with a performance of 52.77, qualifying with the sixth-best performance.
Vangelis Makrygiannis was unlucky. After his very good performance (52.97), he finished sixth in the first row and ninth overall, missing the final by just two-hundredths of a second.
Apostolos Papastamos finished with a time of 4:15.32 and eighth place in the 400-meter medley and failed to qualify for the final.
