The influencer, who identifies as being from Manchester, criticised the state of the famous monument and its ongoing restoration efforts, which include scaffolding and construction materials.
In a video filmed at the site, the TikToker expressed disappointment with the Acropolis, saying, "It's a glorified construction site. Look at the state of that, the absolute state of it." During his visit, he was confronted by staff after stepping into a restricted area to get a closer view of the restoration work. Despite repeated warnings and a whistle being blown, he questioned the rules and expressed frustration at being asked to leave.
Greek TikTok users quickly condemned the video, with some accusing the creator of disrespect and suggesting he should refrain from visiting such historical sites. One user commented, "You are disrespectful and I wonder if you would dare not following the rules in the British museum. Never visit the Acropolis again."
The TikToker, known by the username peakedteaviews and with nearly 40,000 followers, also criticised the storage of restoration materials on-site, calling it a "glorified tip." He later claimed to have been expelled from the Acropolis, although it remains unclear whether this was due to his actions in the restricted area or a complete ejection from the site.
The incident has sparked a flood of critical comments, with many urging him to reconsider his approach and respect cultural landmarks.
