Ariadne Adamopoulou Withdraws from Olympics Pole Vault Final

Ariadne Adamopoulou has withdrawn from the pole vault final at Paris 2024 due to a second-degree contusion sustained during qualification. The 24-year-old athlete shared on Instagram that despite reaching the final in her Olympic debut, she cannot compete due to the injury. She expressed her sadness and appreciation for the support from her fans.

Ariadne Adamopoulou, who recently qualified for the pole vault final at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, has announced her withdrawal from the event scheduled for Wednesday due to injury.

The 24-year-old athlete shared the news on Instagram, revealing that she sustained a second-degree contusion during the qualification round. Adamopoulou explained that she felt a pinch in her bicep after her first attempt at 4.55 metres. An MRI later confirmed the severity of the injury.

Adamopoulou's Instagram post reads:

"Yesterday, another dream of mine came true. I made it to the final of the Olympic Games in my first Olympic participation! During the qualification, on the first attempt at 4.55, I felt a pinch in my bicep. Today, after the MRI, it appeared that I have a grade 2 strain. Unfortunately, I will not be able to compete. Thank you all very much for the beautiful messages and support you give me. I am very sad about this development, but I have to make my health a priority!"

Adamopoulou’s injury marks a disappointing turn in her Olympic journey, but her health and well-being remain paramount. Fans and supporters have flooded her with messages of encouragement and support as she focuses on recovery.
