The 24-year-old athlete shared on Instagram that despite reaching the final in her Olympic debut, she cannot compete due to the injury. She expressed her sadness and appreciation for the support from her fans.
The 24-year-old athlete shared the news on Instagram, revealing that she sustained a second-degree contusion during the qualification round. Adamopoulou explained that she felt a pinch in her bicep after her first attempt at 4.55 metres. An MRI later confirmed the severity of the injury.
Adamopoulou's Instagram post reads:
"Yesterday, another dream of mine came true. I made it to the final of the Olympic Games in my first Olympic participation! During the qualification, on the first attempt at 4.55, I felt a pinch in my bicep. Today, after the MRI, it appeared that I have a grade 2 strain. Unfortunately, I will not be able to compete. Thank you all very much for the beautiful messages and support you give me. I am very sad about this development, but I have to make my health a priority!"
