Greek police have rescued some 180 civilians and evacuating them from areas at risk of the Varnavas wildfire that has been burning since Sunday in northeastern Attica.
Specifically, according to Greek police sources, a total of 380 police officers with 77 police cars, 36 motorcycles, three buses and four vans are operating in the area.
Meanwhile Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis paid a visit on Monday to the Operations and Crisis Management Coordination Centre of the Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Ministry.
At the Centre, he was briefed on the development of the fires in Attica Region and on the ongoing firefighting operations, government sources said.
