Perth has been crowned the world's best city to visit, according to a new survey by Flight Centre, outranking traditional favorites like Sydney, Melbourne, and even classic destinations like Athens.
The survey, which gathered responses from over 170,000 global customers, measured the likelihood of recommending a destination to others. Perth achieved an impressive 96% satisfaction rating, securing the top spot. Brisbane followed closely behind in second place with a 94% rating.
This ranking placed them significantly higher than other popular cities. Sydney came in at 15th place with 89%, while Melbourne secured 8th place with 91%. Surprisingly, even Athens, a city steeped in history and culture, fell short of Perth and Brisbane's acclaim, landing outside the top 10.
Flight Centre's global managing director, Andrew Stark, noted that the results highlight the appeal of destinations beyond the usual tourist hotspots. He praised Perth and Brisbane for leaving a lasting positive impression on travelers.
“Even iconic places like Paris, New York, Tokyo, and Athens fell short of our very own Perth and Brisbane,” Mr. Stark remarked.
Perth, boasting over 3,000 hours of sunshine annually, captivated visitors with its vibrant city life, pristine beaches, and stunning natural landscapes. Tourism WA's Acting Managing Director, Steph Underwood, expressed delight at Perth's achievement, inviting travelers to experience its unique charm firsthand.
Overall, Australia enjoyed a stellar reputation, ranking as the third most loved country globally with a 92% satisfaction score, trailing just behind the Cook Islands at 93% and Portugal at 94%.
The survey underscores a shifting landscape in travel preferences, with Perth and Brisbane emerging as must-see destinations on the global stage, surpassing even iconic cities like Athens in traveler satisfaction.
