Doors: The best place in Ios for a lovely brunch with a view of the beach

doors Ios

They say the best things happen by chance and at the right time, which is precisely what happened at the all-day Doors restaurant on the island of Ios.

Christos Evkratidis, the person behind Doors, spent many years enjoying his summer on the island of Ios. However, it was only in 2021 that he could make his dream come true. And just like that, somewhat unexpectedly, but not quite, Doors came about.

This relaxed, beautiful, open-air restaurant is just a few metres from the island's port in Gialos.

Right next to the sea and under the shade of the tamarisk trees, tables are set up, creating a beautiful summer scene with many boho elements but without spoiling the natural beauty of the beach.

On our recent visit to the island, we had to go to Doors —in fact, even more than once. We had an enjoyable breakfast in the morning, visited it in the afternoon after swimming, and popped back in the evening for a drink.

So, with a view of Agia Irini and the sailboats, we had a delicious Greek breakfast. In essence, it is more like a brunch, so late-nighters can also enjoy it.

Naturally, eggs have their place. We had to choose between fried eggs with minced meat, Karditsa sausage, or Cretan apaki. We chose the first two.

Of course, we couldn't resist classic eggs with plenty of fried potatoes. Once you break the yolk, the potatoes are bathed in orange deliciousness. The detail that makes this dish different is the crumbled feta on top.

On the Doors menu, you'll also find omelettes—we've left those for next time—and a burger made with Thracian crab, melted Ios graviera, and a poached egg.

And when visiting, how can you not have a sweet? Try the crispy traganes with honey and the traditional fluffy loukoumades with sugar.

In this all-day restaurant, as we told you above, you don't just visit for its brunch. Music also plays from the early afternoon and keeps you going until the evening. Visit for the lovely atmosphere that will make you feel relaxed.
