Greek Shipping Minister Condemns Projectile Attack on Cargo Ship in Red Sea

Houthis Ansarullah

Athens, Greece - Christos Stylianides, Greece's Minister of Shipping and Island Policy, has strongly condemned an attack on a Greek-flagged cargo ship in the Red Sea.

Early Wednesday morning, the "Sounion" was targeted by two small boats and struck by three projectiles approximately 77 nautical miles west of Hodeidah, Yemen. The vessel was en route from Iraq to Aghios Theodoros at the time.

While all crew members, who are foreign nationals, are reported safe and unharmed, the attack resulted in material damage to the ship. The "Sounion" currently remains in the vicinity of the incident.

Minister Stylianides denounced the attack as "a flagrant violation of international law" and "a serious threat to the safety of international navigation." He emphasized that such actions endanger the lives of seafarers and disrupt the free flow of goods through vital maritime corridors.
