Leading German travel agency TUI l has reportedly communicated to the illegally occupying Turkish forces in Cyprus that day trips to the occupied territories will cease after August 31, following an agreement with the Government of the Republic of Cyprus.
Reports of the deal between the Republic of Cyprus and tour operators to reduce tourist visits to the north have ignited anger among Turkish Cypriots. While neither the Cypriot government nor TUI has officially confirmed the agreement, evidence is mounting.
A screenshot of an email from TUI’s operations manager in Cyprus to local guides, published by the newspaper Kibris, confirmed the company’s decision to stop promoting and selling day trips to the north. The email stated that this decision aligned with an agreement reached with the Cypriot government.
Despite the lack of official confirmation, the “Northern Cyprus Tour” package on TUI’s website is now listed as “sold out,” further fuelling speculation.
