Ayia Napa, Cyprus - A British holidaymaker, aged 30, tragically passed away in his Ayia Napa hotel room on Tuesday night, sending shockwaves through the popular resort town.
Local authorities were alerted to the situation around 9pm and rushed the unnamed man to Famagusta General Hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead.
While details remain scarce, police have swiftly ruled out any foul play.
"Criminal activity has been ruled out," confirmed Michalis Nikolaou, Paphos police deputy chief of operations.
Local media reports suggest the man had been enjoying a night out with friends prior to his death, with the group reportedly consuming a significant amount of alcohol.
The man, believed to have been holidaying with friends at the unnamed hotel for several days, was found unresponsive in his room.
The area surrounding the hotel was cordoned off as a precaution, and a state pathologist was called in to examine the body, according to CyprusMail.
The British Embassy in Cyprus is believed to be providing consular assistance to the man’s family.
