Nikos Pappas has been appointed as the new head of SYRIZA's parliamentary group, following a proposal by SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Stefanos Kasselakis.
The decision was made late Tuesday, with 17 deputies voting in favour, 12 against, and 4 opting to vote 'present.'
Kasselakis emphasised the need for this reorganisation to enhance collaboration within the party and to present a united front against the government led by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. "We must move forward with this reorganisation to cooperate better. We cannot postpone the vote because that would lead to the dissolution of SYRIZA," Kasselakis stated.
