Nea Propontida Declares State of Emergency Due to Severe Water Shortage

The Municipality of Nea Propontida in Chalkidiki has officially declared a state of emergency in response to an ongoing water shortage.

This urgent measure is aimed at mitigating the potential impacts of the crisis, which has significantly affected the local water supply.

The emergency measures will remain in place until at least September 27, with the possibility of extension if the situation does not improve. Mayor Manolis Karas expressed deep concern about the severity of the water scarcity, describing the situation as "dramatic." However, he emphasised the municipality's determination to tackle the issue. "We will not give up. We will make every effort to cope with this challenge," Karas stated.

Authorities are working on immediate solutions to alleviate the crisis and secure a stable water supply for the community.
