According to a study by Remitly, published by Forbes, Greece earned the second spot, just behind South Africa, which was ranked first.
The survey, which gathered responses from over 3,000 participants worldwide, aimed to identify the countries known for their friendly locals. Greece’s strong reputation for hospitality was a key factor in its ranking. The report notes that Greeks are known for striking up conversations with strangers and often invite new friends to their homes for meals or tours infused with local history and mythology.
The top five friendliest countries, according to the survey, are:
1. South Africa
2. Greece
3. Croatia
4. Mexico
5. Sweden
This recognition further cements Greece’s global reputation for warmth, socialising, and genuine hospitality.
