Halki Theological School's 180-Year Legacy Celebrated at Thessaloniki International Fair

The 180-year legacy of the Halki Theological School was honoured at the 88th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), held at the Thessaloniki Trade Association’s pavilion, which featured the Byzantine Thessaloniki initiative.

Pantelis Filippidis, President of the Thessaloniki Trade Association and First Vice President of Byzantine Thessaloniki, highlighted the 2022 initiative dedicated to supporting the Halki Theological School and promoting its contributions, in collaboration with the School and the Patriarchal Institute for Patristic Studies.

Metropolitan Philotheos of Thessaloniki announced the upcoming inauguration of a Photography Exhibition on September 25, to be officiated by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.

Established in 1844 by Ecumenical Patriarch Germanos IV at the Byzantine Monastery of the Holy Trinity, the Halki Theological School was nearly destroyed in 1894. In 2024, it will receive a comprehensive renovation and modernisation, funded by a generous €30 million donation from the Martinos Foundation.
