30th Annual Greek-Serbian Friendship Day 2024: A Celebration of Faith, Dance, and Culture

The Serbian Orthodox Parish of Saint Stephen, the Archdeacon in Sydney, invites the Greek and Serbian communities, along with their friends and families, to celebrate the historical, cultural, and religious ties between Serbs and Greeks. The event will occur on Sunday, 22 September 2024, during the 30th Annual Greek-Serbian Orthodox and Cultural Friendship Day at the Serbian Orthodox Church of Saint Stephen in Rooty Hill.

Honoured guests include the Consuls General of Greece and Serbia, Mr Ioannis Mallikourtis and Mr Jakov Rogan. Additionally, Mr Nikos Varellas, the newly appointed Deputy High Commissioner of Cyprus in Canberra, may attend.

The day will begin with the Christian Orthodox Holy Liturgy at the local church, followed by an afternoon filled with vibrant music and dance performances. Serbian, Greek, and Bulgarian parish dance groups will perform in the adjacent parish hall, creating an atmosphere of unity and cultural celebration.

Admission is $15, with lunch available for purchase. The event aims to strengthen bonds between communities and celebrate shared traditions.

Greek-Serbian The Friendship Day program includes:

  • 9:30 am: Divine Liturgy
  • 12:30 pm: Performances by Serbian and Greek dance groups, followed by music and dancing for all.

Food and drinks will be available for purchase throughout the day. Admission is $15.
