The Acropolis Museum is joining the European Heritage Days 2024 by offering a special presentation, “Health: Tracing a Universal and Timeless Good.”

This unique tour explores ancient health and hygiene practices, highlighting the facilities and objects discovered in the ancient neighbourhood beneath the museum, as well as items displayed in the newly established Excavation Museum.

Guided by archaeologists, visitors will learn about ancient perceptions of health, the methods used to care for the body and soul, and the intersection of science and religion in the pursuit of well-being. The event aligns with this year’s pan-European theme, “Tracing Routes, Networks and Links in Cultural Heritage,” and is part of the Council of Europe’s initiative, “Europe, a Common Heritage.”

The thematic tour will take place on Sunday, September 29, 2024, with sessions at 10:00 a.m. in English and 12:00 p.m. in Greek, lasting 90 minutes each. Reservations are required and can be made online. Entry is free from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the same day to celebrate the occasion.
