Athens celebrated the 20th anniversary of the 2004 Olympic Games and Greece's Euro 2004 football victory with a spectacular event at Kallimarmaro Stadium. Organized by the Hellenic Olympic Committee, the celebration featured appearances by legendary Greek athletes, including the 2004 national football team and Olympic medalists, along with performances by Helena Paparizou and Anna Vissi.
Despite adverse weather conditions, the event at the historic Kallimarmaro Stadium attracted a large crowd, celebrating some of the greatest moments in Greek sporting history.
Organised by the Hellenic Olympic Committee (HOC), the event featured appearances by legendary Greek athletes, including Olympic and Paralympic medalists from 2004 and those representing Greece at the Paris 2024 Games.
The 2004 National Football Team, led by coach Otto Rehhagel, was also honoured for their historic triumph in Portugal, which remains one of the most celebrated achievements in Greek sports.
The evening was further highlighted by performances from renowned Greek singers Helena Paparizou, who electrified the crowd with "My Number One," and Anna Vissi.
The event was hosted by Betty Maggira and Christos Ferentinos, while the National Symphony Orchestra of ERT and an impressive laser show by Victor Berkan added a special touch to the festivities.
Olympic gold medalist Pyrros Dimas and his wife Aphrodite Skafida were also in attendance, with their 6-month-old daughter, marking a heartwarming family moment during the celebration.
The event brought together athletes, volunteers, and key figures who contributed to the successful hosting of the Athens 2004 Olympics, offering a nostalgic tribute to one of Greece’s proudest moments in sports history.
