Major rail projects valued at €1 billion are set to reshape the transport landscape in northern Greece as ERGOSE accelerates efforts to upgrade 370 kilometres of railway tracks.

These initiatives aim to integrate Greece more effectively into European rail networks, positioning northern Greece and its ports as key transport hubs connecting Asia, the Balkans, and Europe, according to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA).

ERGOSE CEO Christos Paleos highlighted that the projects focus on improving the region’s rail infrastructure with enhanced safety measures, increased reliability, and the potential to attract more transportation jobs. The upgrades are expected to spur significant economic growth and boost Greece's role in international trade and logistics.
