Moscow, September 21, 2024 – Russia has published a list of 47 countries and territories accused of engaging in “destructive behaviors contrary to Russian spiritual and moral values,” as reported by state news agency TASS on Saturday. This list, approved by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, heavily overlaps with Russia’s existing “unfriendly countries” list, implemented after rounds of mutual sanctions.
The list encompasses a majority of European Union member states, excluding Hungary and Slovakia, as well as NATO members, with the exception of Turkey. Cyprus, Greece, the United States, the United Kingdom, and other nations considered part of the “Western coalition”—such as Japan, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, and Taiwan—are also included.
This development follows a decree by President Vladimir Putin designed to facilitate humanitarian aid and simplified relocation procedures for citizens from these countries who “share traditional Russian spiritual and moral values.”
Citing unnamed sources, TASS reported that the decree establishes a streamlined process for individuals who “do not accept the destructive neoliberal behaviours in their countries, which contradict traditional values” to establish residency in Russia.
Russian diplomatic sources claim that “several dozen” Western citizens have already utilized this relocation program, although these figures remain unverified.
