Greece Bolsters Defense with Belh@rra Frigates and SCALP Naval Missiles

The Hellenic Armed Forces have taken a significant step towards modernizing their arsenal by acquiring four Belh@rra frigates, including three equipped with the powerful SCALP naval cruise missiles.

The Belh@rra frigates, built by the Naval Group in France, are state-of-the-art warships that offer advanced capabilities, including long-range strike capabilities, air defence, and anti-submarine warfare. The SCALP Naval missiles, with a range of up to 1,000 kilometres, provide Greece with a substantial deterrent against potential threats.

Defense Minister Nikos Dendias announced the acquisition of the fourth Belh@rra frigate, emphasizing its importance for ensuring Greece's security and deterring adversaries. The additional frigate will join the other three, already under construction.

The Belh@rra program is a major investment for Greece, aiming to replace its aging fleet and enhance its military capabilities. The frigates have various advanced weapons and sensors, including the Sea Fire radar, Aster 30 anti-aircraft/anti-ballistic missiles, and Exocet Block anti-ship missiles.

The acquisition of the Belh@rra frigates and SCALP Naval missiles is part of Greece's broader efforts to modernize its armed forces and strengthen its defence posture. The Greek government has also announced plans to acquire four new submarines and participate in the Eurocorvette development program.
