Greece and Georgia have taken a significant step towards enhancing bilateral relations and facilitating mobility between the two countries.
On Thursday, the two nations signed an agreement for the mutual recognition and exchange of driving licences.
The agreement, signed by Greek Infrastructure & Transport Minister Christos Staikouras and Georgian Interior Affairs Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri, will streamline the process for drivers from either country to operate vehicles within the other’s borders.
Minister Staikouras expressed Greece’s commitment to supporting Georgia’s progress towards European Union accession and offered technical assistance to facilitate this process. He also emphasised the potential for future collaboration in the areas of transport and infrastructure.
Georgian Minister Gomelauri welcomed the agreement, noting that Greece is the third EU country to recognise Georgian driving licences. He expressed gratitude for Greece’s support and technical assistance on Georgia’s path to EU membership.
