Search Continues for Missing German Hiker on Crete

Crete, Greece - A search and rescue operation is ongoing for a 60-year-old German hiker who disappeared on Friday while hiking on the Sougia trail towards the Trypti Gorge in southern Crete.

The man was hiking with two companions when he became separated from the group. After losing track of him, the other hikers alerted authorities.

A multi-agency search effort is underway, involving police, firefighters, volunteers, and a search dog. A drone is also being deployed to assist in the search. Efforts to contact the missing hiker via cell phone have been unsuccessful, according to local media reports.
