Firefighters Continue to Battle Ongoing Blaze in Xylokastro

Firefighters, Civil Protection forces, and volunteers continued to battle flames for a second consecutive night in Rozena, Xylokastro, Corinth, on Tuesday, where the ongoing fire has tragically claimed two lives.

The Fire Department reported multiple scattered pockets of flames still burning in the area. An emergency alert was sent via the 112 system, advising residents of Sofiana to evacuate and head towards Rethi for safety.

Meanwhile, traffic has resumed on the Corinth-Patra highway between Lykoporia and Derveni, which had been closed since Monday night due to the fire that began on Sunday. Local schools will remain closed for the second day as a precautionary measure.
