Crete: 49-year-old Pakistani arrested for smuggling cigarettes

The Regional Drug Prosecution Team of the Port Authority in the Cretan city of Heraklion arrested a 49-year-old Pakistani for contraband of tobacco products.

A search was carried out in the 49-year-old's house and in an adjacent abandoned house, where 980 packs of cigarettes and 112 packs of tobacco of various brands were found, all lacking customs control and marking, Law & Order reported.

The Central Port Authority of Heraklion, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, confiscated the tobacco products, which were delivered to the Heraklion Customs. The evaded taxes and duties amount to 5,498.27 euros.
