Tourist Injured in Fall During Hike in Crete

A rescue operation is underway for a 60-year-old American tourist injured while hiking near Sougia, Crete. The man, part of a group hiking towards the Lissos archaeological site, lost his balance and sustained injuries.

A 60-year-old American tourist is being rescued after sustaining injuries during a hike near Sougia, Crete on Tuesday evening. The man was hiking with a group towards the Lissos archaeological site when he lost his balance, injuring his limbs.

Despite his injuries, he managed to contact emergency services via the European emergency number, 112. A rescue operation was swiftly launched around 6 p.m. to transport him back to Sougia and then to a hospital in Hania.
