First Greek President Elected for COFACE Families Europe

Dr. Antonia Torrens, General Director of the Center for Social Action and Innovation, has made history by becoming the first Greek president of the Confederation of Family Organizations in Europe (COFACE Families Europe).

Torrens was elected during the organisation’s general assembly held in Vilnius, marking a milestone for Greece’s leadership role in this European family advocacy body.

Following her election, Dr. Torrens highlighted her vision for COFACE to take on a more empowering role in defending the rights of diverse family structures across Europe. She emphasised the importance of enhancing social policy effectiveness and helping families balance personal and professional responsibilities, especially in the face of the growing social challenges across the continent. Torrens also stressed COFACE’s significant contributions in shaping European policies, particularly in addressing demographic issues that are highly relevant for Greece.

Founded in 1958, COFACE Families Europe comprises members from 23 European countries and represents millions of families within European institutions. The organisation focuses on promoting well-being, inclusion, human rights, and equal opportunities for all families across Europe.
