Authorities reported that the violence stemmed from financial disputes between the victim and the attackers, all of whom are of the same age. The parents of the perpetrators have since been arrested for neglect of supervision.
The assault occurred in the centre of Volos, following a school trip. Witnesses watched in horror as the attack was carried out, with one of the perpetrators filming the incident on their mobile phone. The 16-year-old was rushed to the hospital after being punched repeatedly, bleeding heavily and visibly distressed.
Police officers quickly arrived at the scene and located the injured boy. Meanwhile, an administrative investigation is being conducted by the director of secondary education. This attack comes on the heels of a similar violent incident in Glyfada, highlighting growing concerns over violence among minors in Greece.
